Dear Colleagues! We would like to announce the Russian-German Symposium on Actinide nano-particles. The workshop will take place in Moscow, Russia on May 21–22, 2009. Symposium is organized by institutes involved in the Helmholtz-Russia Joint Research Group (HRJRG) “Actinide nano-particles: formation, stability, and properties relevant to the safety of nuclear waste disposal” – Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe Institute for Nuclear Waste Disposal (FZK-INE) and the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry (GEOKHI).

Russian-German Symposium on Actinide nano-particles will provide a platform for discussion of recent developments in the molecular-level understanding of the formation, stability, and properties of nano-sized actinide containing colloids relevant to safe spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and high level radioactive waste (HLW) disposal, identifying conceptual gaps and strategies to further investigation.
